The range of human experiences varies greatly which makes this question more difficult to answer than the previous questions. Every individual is unique in their own way which leads to people having different issues and goals for therapy. Generally speaking, you can expect to talk about your current issues and concerns, any relevant history related to them, and we will explore your thoughts and feelings that you are noticing in session. As sessions progress in time, you can reasonably expect to talk about new insights you have gained or other progress you are noticing in your life while engaging in therapy.
You will get more progress in therapy if you show up to your appointments, are consistent with your appointments, and actively participate in the process in and outside of the sessions. People seeking therapy who are ready to make positive changes in their lives, open to new perspectives, and take responsibility for their lives are more likely to benefit from therapy.
